Junior and Senior Chorus Audition Procedures & Materials

Audition Procedures:

  • All those auditioning for All State chorus are required to audition with two pieces; one accompanied, one a cappella.

  • Sight reading is not required for the 2021-2022 audition process.

  • Each student will audition for the educator/student identified voice part that is in the most comfortable vocal range.

    • If a voice change occurs after the audition, the teacher must contact the MMEA Executive Office in writing at mmeamarylandinfo@gmail.com, as soon as possible, and provide the specifics. MCEA strongly supports decisions that are most appropriate for individual vocal health.

  • Students are required to have an mp3 playback device and play the appropriate “Script Track" in the background during the audition. (The judge should be able to hear the script track and the student’s voice in the audition video.) Students are encouraged to practice with the script track prior to recording their audition.

  • Students will need to play the Script Track and follow the instructions on the track during their audition recording. (See instructions below.)

  • The student’s face must be visible for the entire audition.

  • Senior Chorus - Due to space limitations, we will not be seating a Senior Treble Chorus for 2022.

  • Senior Chorus Sopranos - On the audition form, you will be asked for your preference of Soprano 1 or 2.  However, all Senior Chorus Sopranos are auditioning with the same music.
