Maryland Music Educators Association Mission Statement

Maryland Music Educators Association (MMEA) is the professional association for the music educators of Maryland.

The Maryland Music Educators Association is a leading advocate for music education encompassing a broad range of cultural and musical experiences and the right of every student to experience the power of music. 

MMEA is a 501(c)(3) registered organization a federated unit of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).

​​MMEA Office

The MMEA Office operates virtually with an Executive Director, a full-time Operations Manager, and a part-time Communications Manager. The MMEA Executive Office works in collaboration with the MMEA Board, the five Component Association Boards, teachers, parents, sponsors, arts organizations, community organizations, and contractors throughout Maryland. We ensure the operational infrastructure, financial forecasting, public relations, meeting and event logistics, advocacy, membership,and resource development.

We work closely with over 150 highly skilled volunteer leaders who are full-time or retired music teachers serving on the five Component Association Boards (MBDA, MCEA, MODA, MGMTA, MSMTE), serving on committees, serving as a volunteer manager/coordinators, and adjudicators.

For All State or State Festivals, caregivers or students may need to communicate with MMEA staff for questions and support. We ask that the student’s music educator be copied on all messages to MMEA to assure transparency and accurate communication. MMEA staff will extend the same courtesy in the event staff needs to communicate with caregivers.
